Using accents on Chromebooks:

1.  Go to Settings using the 3 horizontal bars at the top of the web browser.
2.  Click on Keyboard Settings under Device.
3.  Click on the blue link to change language and input settings.
4. Check the US international keyboard box under Input Method.
5.  Click Done and go back to your document.
6.  Press  Alt and Shift to toggle to the International keyboard.

Use these codes for accents:

To type the special characters, two keystrokes are required. To type the á, you need only strike the apostrophe key and then the letter a. The other characters are just as easy:
  • á = ' + a
  • é = ' + e
  • í = ' + i
  • ó = ' + o
  • ú = ' + u
  • ñ = ~ + n
  • ü = " + u
To type the special punctuation characters, you need to hold down on the Alt key while you strike the appropriate punctuation mark. On some keyboards, only one of the two Alt keys will work for this.
  • ¡ = Alt (hold down) + !
  • ¿ = Alt (hold down alt key on the right side of keyboard) + ?
